#10 Reason To Buy A Camper: De-Stress Your Vacations

I don’t know about you, but de-stressing is one of my top goals in life. Not only does it affect your health, but the health of the people around you. There are a ton of articles, how-to books, and advice on the web about how to de-stress. Those are all good, but when it comes to going on vacation, it can be a lifesaver. Let me tie all of this back to camping. There is just something about camping in the woods that automatically de-stresses you. The sound of birds singing, creek water dancing and the coziness of a campfire flickering at night. All of these things and more are auto de-stressors. So, what are you waiting for?

#8 Reason To Buy A Camper: Avoid The Hassle Of Flying

You search online for the best deals on airline tickets for your family, purchase the tickets and on the day of your departure, lo and behold, a flight cancelation happens. Your plans for the day are now messed up, you lose vacation time by waiting on the next available flight and let’s not forget the stress levels that you all are trying to manage. Okay, okay, this may be the worst-case scenario and some flight schedules do work out, but nothing compares to owning your camper and being in control of your vacation time. You can leave whenever you like, sleep in your camper and not have to worry about hotels. Last but not least, you can enjoy the scenery on your way to your vacation destination. This, my friends, is the best stress-free way to go!

#7 Reason To Buy A Camper: Become Part Of The Community

Camping is not just a summer activity, its about belonging to a community. It’s a different world when you first enter a campground. You enter a new community of people who share the same interests and camp philosophy as you do. It’s like gathering around a campfire, while a buddy of yours starts playing a familiar tune on their guitar and everyone joins in to sing along. It’s that feeling you get when stories are being told and laughter breaks out all at once. It’s simply that feeling of being “home.”

Never run out of choices with the different types of campgrounds that are everywhere in the US. You have state parks, national parks, family-owned campgrounds and boondocking! Unlike hotels, you get to see nature at its finest. Let’s not forget about all of the activities that accompany a park, such as hiking, boating, swimming, picnicking and more! Family Favorite Holiday Treat

It’s almost Christmas you guys!  I know that means a lot of cooking and baking and preparations of said cooking and baking, am I right?  Well around my family, we have a favorite that is reserved for this time of year.  It’s a recipe from my Grandma, though where she found the recipe I’m not sure.  So if you’ve seen it somewhere else let me know!

Anyway, Grandma always called these “Angel Balls” and they are delicious! They include dates, coconut, and chopped pecans… YUM!  Here’s the ingredients list you’ll need:

  • 1/2 c. butter (I used unsalted)
  • 1/4 t. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. chopped dates
  • 1 c. shredded coconut
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. brown sugar
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • 2 c. Rice Krispies
  • powdered sugar

Directions:  In a saucepan, melt butter. Add salt, dates, coconut, sugar, and brown sugar.  Cook 6 minutes, stirring constantly.  Allow to cool.  Add vanilla, pecans, and Rice Krispies.  Form into balls and roll in powdered sugar.
